Tony Evans is the president of The Urban Alternative and senior pastor of Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship in Dallas, TX. He is the author of numerous books.
Based on the publisher’s description,
Psalm 23 is more than just a lovely poem; it is a profound description of the relationship God offers you. In this refreshing, exhilarating book by Tony Evans, you will discover anew one of the most beloved passages of Scripture—and the Shepherd who is more than enough to meet all your needs.
I was looking forward to Dr. Evans’ insight into this very familiar passage of Scripture. Due to the size of the book, 96 pages, I was expecting a quick read, but was slowed by the way he opened up new insight into each passage that I had memorized as a child.
Evans devotes a chapter to each verse and provides an exposition into the Scripture and shows how it applies to our everyday lives. While there were no real “wow” moments in the book, I was very pleased to be reminded that this Psalm can be more than just a source of comfort during times of trouble in our lives.
This book would make a great resource for a Sunday school/small group study.
